Book 1
Crossing the Divide: Ahartae
The Concept
Ahartae began as a Master’s writing project exploring what a true utopia might look like — a world not ruled by greed, competition, or patriarchy, but by empathy, creativity, and balance. The novel reimagines humanity through a matriarchal lens, inspired by Bonobo society, where cooperation and pleasure replace aggression and dominance.
A World Without Patriarchy
In Ahartae, desire is not taboo. Emotional and physical connection are celebrated as acts of healing and understanding. Rather than suppressing sexuality or emotion, the Ahartaens use them as pathways to peace. Conflict is eased not through violence but through intimacy, reminding us that empathy is our species’ most underused strength.
Solo’s Journey
Solo, an Earth-born outsider, arrives on Ahartae carrying all the baggage of a capitalist, patriarchal world. His story mirrors our own cultural conditioning — a narrow view of love, power, and purpose. Through his encounters with Ahartaen society, he begins to question everything he thought he knew about morality, hierarchy, and desire.
Themes
Utopia and Dystopia: Every perfect world has its shadows. Ahartae’s peace comes at a cost — children showing signs of narcissism are “culled,” a harsh but symbolic reflection on how modern society often rewards self-interest.
Sex vs Aggression: Where Earth channels frustration into conflict, Ahartae channels it into connection.
Empathy vs Narcissism: The novel imagines what would happen if empathy, not ego, shaped the future of humanity.
Style and Influence
Ahartae draws inspiration from Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Dispossessed, Avatar, and Heart of Darkness, blending speculative fiction with crime drama pacing. Its architecture and language reflect the duality between Earth — metallic, phallic, and driven by power — and Ahartae — organic, domed, and guided by feminine energy.
A Glimpse Into the Future
The story asks a simple but radical question: What if the future of humanity lies not in conquest, but in care?
Through Solo’s eyes, readers explore a civilisation both alien and deeply familiar — one that challenges how we define love, leadership, and what it means to be human.
